The violet hues dominate the variegated glaze colors.
This shapely tea pot from TESTED BY FIRE in San Antonio, Texas is a modern interpretation of classic teapots --- and the bamboo handle gives it a bit of an Asian look.
The glaze colors are similar to those that the studio calls Amethyst Dream.
We purchased this from a private collection in the Washington, D. C. area that included several beautiful pieces by TESTED BY FIRE --- but this teapot was the masterpiece in the collection.
The shape, the design details (the handles, the scooped out spout, the lid’s great knob, etc.), and the wonderful glaze colors and effects make this an American stoneware masterpiece.
It should be displayed as a work of art when it is not in use serving tea!
All of their stoneware is signed “Praise God, Rob” in the center of TESTED BY FIRE POTTERY INC (inside a double circle).
